Vernon Hills, IL (March 8, 2013)- Dr. Daniel Ritacca, board-certified Oculoplastic Surgeon & medical director of Ritacca Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa will soon visit Honduras on a medical mission to help 5,000 patients with non-healing leg wounds and varicose veins.  In addition to his devotion as a skillful plastic, Dr. Ritacca, your cosmetic surgeon Barrington, has partnered with the Gang Outreach Program helping rehabilitate former gang members' image by removing unsightly tattoos from their past.

Wounds that do not heal normally are called chronic wounds. Treating chronic wounds usually takes a very long time and is often painful. These wounds can also be a heavy psychological burden for those who have them.  Underlying diseases, personal circumstances and other factors can all contribute to a wound developing or healing poorly. Some examples: It is important for wound healing in people with diabetes that blood sugar levels not be too high for too long.
Your cosmetic surgeon Barrington says, “I’m thankful when I can share my knowledge to benefit others medically & cosmetically.”

Dr. Ritacca believes in the importance of education and is a volunteer surgeon at the John Stroger hospital, teaching 12 doctors a year in vision correction, cosmetic/reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and liposuction.  Dr. Ritacca’s vision was to establish a laser and surgery center that deals with cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, improving the quality of patient’s lives, helping the underserved and poor, while devoting his free time to his family.

A Closer Look at the Facelift Procedure

Cosmetic surgery procedures, including facelifts, offer numerous aesthetic benefits. If you’re unhappy with the effects of gravity, sunlight, and the natural aging process on your skin, talk to a cosmetic surgeon Barrington about having a facelift. Facelifts can fix sagging and loose skin, jowls, creases, and excess fat deposits. Some people choose to combine facelifts with additional cosmetic surgeries, including brow lifts. Read on for a brief introduction to the facelift procedure:
Eligibility
The best candidates for this type of cosmetic surgery are those who have specific and realistic goals for appearance enhancement. Candidates should also be in good overall health, with good skin elasticity. If you use tobacco, talk to your doctor about quitting prior to the procedure, as smoking inhibits your body’s ability to heal itself.
Preparation
Prior to your facelift, you’ll have a consultation with the plastic surgeon. During your consultation, disclose your full medical history to your cosmetic surgeon Barrington, including any medical conditions you have and medications or supplements you take. Your cosmetic surgeon Barrington can also evaluate your facial area to assess the alterations that he or she needs to make during the cosmetic surgery.
Procedure
After the cosmetic surgeon Barrington administers the anesthesia, he or she makes the necessary incisions. The next steps in the procedure depend on the specific changes that you wish to achieve in your appearance. The surgeon removes excess skin and fat, and contours the face before closing the incisions. Then, he or she places a dressing on the surgical site to protect it and minimize swelling.
Recovery
Plan to have someone else drive you home after the cosmetic surgery. For best results, follow your cosmetic surgeon Barrington’s post-operation instructions carefully. He will tell you when you can resume normal activities and how to care for yourself during your recovery.
